Uzbekistan

7 Nights/8 Days

Uzbekistan is Central Asia's historic heart. Remnants of long-vanished empires dot the countryside, culminating in the evocative names of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent. For the real adventurer it is possible to go further afield - into the desert at Nurata, or to the western city of Nukus, home to a marvelous anthropological museum and gateway to the Aral Sea basin. The winter starts from  October end and are pleasantly cold in the mountains. In the cities and towns the temperatures are higher and in the single digit numbers.

The sights and sounds of Tashkent are nowhere near as stupendous as those of Bukhara or Samarkand but its tree lined avenues, wide roads, fountains and parks, universities, and its culturally  unchallenged personality makes Tashkent a good introduction to Uzbekistan.

Samarkand, the second largest city in Uzbekistan, is home to one of the world’s finest Islamic architecture. Samarkand literally means “stone fort” or “rock town” and this is evident from its many beautiful architectural monuments and ancient ruins.
