Italy is a perfect mix of gourmet fare, culture and sophistication. On this Signature trip, accompanied by the WOW Founder, you can taste homemade pasta, drink local wine, stay in trullos and soak in the countryside. We would be exploring the best parts of Italy by eating good food, drinking great wine and framing it all! There is probably nothing that signals your arrival in Puglia more than the iconic sight of a trullo, the unique conical construction found in this part of the world. Hop on for the most unforgettable week with women from different walks of life – all bitten by the same bug as you, Wanderlust.

Wow Highlights:

  • Santa Claus’ church at Bari
  • Staying in an authentic Trullo
  • Visit to the UNESCO world heritage site – the town of Sassi in Matera
  • Visit to the Polignano A Mare, Istria Valley and Locorotondo
  • Visit to Ostuni and Brindisi

Best of Beginnings: Bari

Arrive at Bari airport and proceed to check in to the hotel. Bari is a beautiful and historic city that has a youthful elegance owing to the high number of students who live in the city. The day will be at leisure and overnight at Bari.

 Bari – Polignano A Mare - Alberobello

Post breakfast, we check out and proceed for city tour of Bari which includes Old Town, Bari Cathedral and the St. Nicolas Church. Later we head towards Alberbello but before arriving Alberobello we will visit Polignano A Mare which is a fascinating place in Puglia. Polignano A Mare is a spectacularly positioned small town. It is built on the edge of a craggy ravine pockmarked with caves. In fact, this town is one of the most important ancient settlements in Puglia, which was even inhabited by invaders ranging from the Huns to the Normans. We will then proceed to Alberobello where we stay overnight at the trulli.

 oh wow! ostuni

Post breakfast, we get started with the walking tour of Alberobello (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We also visit the Sant’ Antonio at Alberobello, which is shaped similar to the trulli of this region. The church was restored and renovated recently.

An interesting fact about the trulli shape is that in the medieval times, locals wanted to avoid the high property taxes. Hence they chose to build homes in the forms of trulli, which is easily dismantled when the tax inspectors arrived. The villagers then, rebuilt their homes after the inspectors left.

Post Lunch (on your own), we head out for Ostuni - 'La Città Bianca' or ‘The White Lady’, rising high above a vast olive-carpeted plateau. Strong defensive walls and tumbling clusters of white-washed houses wind around the hillside, at the top of which, proudly surveying the surrounding land, sits the magnificent Gothic cathedral. Wonderful vistas abound from all angles, the best of which offer 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding countryside and the Adriatic Sea.

Return to Alberobello for overnight at the trulli.

Alberobello- Istria Valley & Locorotondo- Matera

After breakfast, we check out and visit Istria Valley & Locorotondo. Istria Valley is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. It is shared by three countries: Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. After exploring Istria Valley we proceed towards Locorotondo which is best known for its quaint cottages, which will attract attention as we explore the region, but be sure to allow time to enjoy the other historic monuments and churches in the town as well! Later in the evening we proceed to Matera for the overnight stay.

Matera – Altamura- Matera

Post breakfast we check out and visit Altamura to discover this fantastic town full of fascinating sights located within the National Park of the Alta Murgia. After having Lunch (on our own) we proceed to Matera. Upon arrival, we check in and proceed to explore the UNESCO Heritage Site of Sassi in Matera.

Pure charm… this is what Matera, with its colours, light and views, offers visitors. Largely carved out of and built with tuff, the town has an incredible history and a deep sense of spirituality, purity and authenticity. Overnight at Matera

Matera- Brindisi- Lecce

  1. breakfast, we check out and drive off the beaten paths through the Ancient Olive Tree roads. On arrival at Brindisi, we meet with local guide and proceed for the city walking tour. wards we continue towards Lecce where we again proceed for the guided walking tour of the city historical centre including visit to the cathedral and famous Santa Croce Basilica. Check in at hotel Evening at leisure .Overnight at Lecce

the star of Italy -- Lecce

Post breakfast, we start exploring “The Heel” and the Adriatic Coast. Along the journey we will see the Punta Palascia’s lighthouse – the Italian easternmost point and downwards towards Santa Cesarea Terme where we will be captivated by the amazing rocky cliffs overlooking the clear emerald sea until we reach Castro…the heart of Salento. The very popular saying is that, if Puglia was a movie; Lecce would be cast in a starring role!

Later we part for lunch (on your own). We again drive along the coast until we reach Ponte del Ciolo where we can choose to simply enjoy watching locals dive from 20 meters high. Lastly we arrive at Santa Maria di Leuca (Caput Mundi) – the end of the tip, where the Adriatic meets the Ionian Sea. In the evening we return to Lecce for some well deserved rest and overnight at Lecce.
