Europe Christmas & New Year Cruise

Day 1: BASEL (SWITZERLAND) (Embarkation)

We arrive in Basel where the ship is docked. Embark the ship and get briefed about the check in procedure which will be followed by the safety drill. Tonight we have a welcome dinner on board so we will all get decked up for our very first cruise dinner together.


Sharing borders with France and Germany, this third largest city in Switzerland is one of the most culturally rich cities in the world.


Day 2: BREISACH (GERMANY)

Today after breakfast we will be going out for a guided walking tour of Breisach and Freiburg. Breisach and Freiburg are German cities with distinct architecture. Breisach is a beautiful resort town with a French influence of French wine and food culture.Freiburg stands with an interesting historical city center; we will get to visit Freiburg Minster which is a Gothic cathedral constructed of red Sandstone. After the cathedral we will head back towards the cruise where we will have our Lunch. Evening is for us to relax and explore on our own.

DAY 3: STRASBOURG (FRANCE)

This morning, the ship cruises forward to the capital city of the Alsace region in Northeastern France. After the ship docks we will head out for a walking tour of the beautiful city of Strasbourg known for its black and white timber- framed buildings, covered bridges, and the medieval watchtowers. We will get to walk on the cobbled streets to see the European Parliament and visit the “La Petite France” district, with its sandstone Gothic Cathedral and famous astronomical clock. After the walking tour we will have day leisure you may choose to visit the famous Christmas Market in the city on your own. The ship moors overnight in Strasbourg.

Strasbourg is a highly attractive, yet contemporary city. A multifaceted image, which is the basis of its originality. It’s a blend of cultures, innate tolerance, ecological awareness and is embodiment of the European spirit. The city was originally a Celtic village, and under the Romans it became a garrison  town called Argentoratum.


DAY 4:SPEYER - HEIDELBERG (GERMANY)

Early this afternoon, we arrive in Speyer, one of Germany’s oldest cities, well known for its cathedral, Churches, and the Altportel – a 13th Century gate tower. We will go for a city tour of Heidelberg, where you will visit the red walled castle and its Great vat, a 49,000 – gallon 18th century wine cask. Evening will be free to explore the city on own; you can wander what is said to be the longest pedestrian shopping street in Germany, the “Haupstrasse”.Overnight in Speyer.

Heidelberg is a city that will capture your heart. Famous the world over, it is a perennial favourite among international tourists. The city has so much to offer: charm and character in abundance between the Old Bridge and the mighty castle, an unparalleled choice of culture and entertainment, hearty yet heavenly cuisine and a picturesque setting nestled between the Neckar river and the foothills of the Odenwald forest.

DAY 5: RÜDESHEIM - RHINE CASTLES KOBLENZ

This morning, arrive in Rüdesheim and visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Instrument Museum and  its collection of robotic and self-playing musical instruments, made during the 18th- 20th centuries. Explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns and restaurants, before heading to a wine tasting with a local vintner. You will also visit the town’s massive Christmas Market, with more than 120 stands of German delicacies and unique gifts  guaranteed to put you in a festive mood. This afternoon your ship departs for Koblenz, passing through the Rhine Gorge, the most beautiful stretch of the river with numerous vineyards, castles, and picturesque hamlets. After arriving in Koblenz this evening, your Cruise Manager will lead you on a walking tour through this charming town. We overnight in Koblenz.


Siegfried’s Mechanical Instrument Museum which covers an exhibition space of more than 400 square metres and has one of the largest and most beautiful collections of mechanical music boxes. There are approximately 350 exhibits of mechanical instruments dating from the 18th to the 20th century – from delicate musical boxes to a gigantic piano-orchestrion.


DAY 6: COLOGNE

This morning, the ship cruises to Cologne, where we will spend the entire day. You will have a walking tour through the old part of the city and visit Cologne’s fabled Gothic cathedral.

During your free time, you may return to the cathedral square to browse through Cologne’s impressive Christmas Market or explore other areas of the city on your own. Tonight the ship will depart for Amsterdam.

Cologne is richer in diversity, and more vital and lovable than virtually any of Germany’s other big cities. The “Cologne way of life” is highly infectious – and that’s reason enough to pay Cologne a visit! With shopping streets, alleys in the “old town” and characteristic urban neighbourhoods – known as “Veedel” in Cologne’s own dialect – Cologne is considered one of Germany’s greatest cities for shopping. And let’s not forget the excellent and night life – among Germany’s major cities, Cologne has the highest density of pubs and taverns.


DAY 7: AMSTERDAM

Arrive mid-day and take a guided canal boat tour past the city’s beautiful bridges, churches and centuries-old merchant houses. Later, enjoy a panoramic motor coach tour of Amsterdam. You will also have some free time to explore on your own. The ship moors in Amsterdam overnight.


Known for its liberal views and open-minded attitude, Amsterdam welcomes you to this cozy city. You’ll adore the lovely canals and old European charm that make up the enchanting city of Amsterdam. Because the city planning hasn’t changed much since the 19th century, you’ll appreciate the architecture and historic homes that colour the city. And you can’t leave without seeing the windmills!


DAY 8: DEPART AMSTERDAM (Disembarkation)

Having spent the last 7 days delving in the history of the land, time for us to head back and spread our travel stories. After a leisurely breakfast we transfer to the airport for our flight back home.
